Just like a heaving inbox, the brain requires a filter or junk folder to clean out unwanted rubbish. This mostly occurs during sleep when the channels of watery cerebrospinal fluid running between brain tissue cells flush out undesirable toxins. Hence a sleep-deprived or ‘dirty’ brain is ill-equipped to concentrate or analyse information efficiently.
