Camera Lúcida (My Thoughts Are Clear, The Rest Is Noise)
Aphasia is the inability to produce and/or understand language following stroke or brain injury. Here the brain is conveyed as a black box with the hole (normally reserved for the spinal cord) as a taped up (mute) mouth. The box is bombarded with the abstract symbols, letters, sounds, phonemes that form the building blocks of language. Inside the hole the word 'LUCID' can be seen. This paradox can lead to anxiety and depression for many Aphasia sufferers: their intelligence and ideas are intact and yet they inhabit a world without words.
