Handle With Care

Every time we retrieve or handle a memory, it’s subject to change. Our recollections of an event can grow less precise with each retrieval, even to the point of becoming totally false. That’s because instead of recalling the actual incident, place or person, we’re harking back to our memory of the last time we remembered it. It’s rather like an internal form of Chinese whispers.
