In the Brain of the Beholder (2014)
Acrylic and mixed media on board, mounted on wood
84.1 x 59.4cm
Gazing at a beautiful artwork has been shown to increase blood flow in the brain - in an area associated with pleasure - by as much as 10 percent, the equivalent of gazing at a loved one. According to Professor Semir Zeki (UCL) this flow of blood is in proportion to how much the painting is liked. No long words required. The ultimate cerebral critique perhaps?
