Space of Infinite Parameters (TMS)

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation uses an electrical current across the scalp/skull. This activates nearby brain cells and has therapeutic uses in neurology and mental health. After stroke, the therapy can help restore interhemispheric balance. Just as electromagnetic fields have a positive and negative charge, the brain's neurons are excitatory (positive, action orientated) and inhibitory (negative, like 'brakes', less likely to generate an action potential). TMS has been described as having 'infinite parameters' as it can target cells that are over or under firing.
